MEET THE TEAM: Grant Jones

A little bit about me..

I went to school in Hextable in Kent and although school wasn’t my favourite place (!) I made some amazing friends, some of whom I am still in touch with now.

I am what I would describe as ‘your typically happily married man’, married to the long suffering Mrs Jones who has put up with me for over 30 years. She tells me I’m twice the man she married, probably due to fact that my sixpack vanished many moons ago. These days, when it comes to sport I’m definitely more of a spectator and you’d be more likely to find me watching motor racing than rugby or football.

Q: How did you come to join Loomis? What caught your attention about the company?

After many years in Logistics, I found myself struggling to find a new role during the pandemic.

I dipped my toe outside of the industry but I didn’t really find anywhere that I fit in. Then I was contacted about an opening at Loomis.

What a fantastic opportunity! Another role in Logistics where I could add value with my experience but different enough to bring fresh challenges and opportunities to grow.

Q: What is it like working at Loomis? What do you enjoy most about your role?

I have been very fortunate to work at some amazing organisations throughout my career but Loomis is certainly one of the best. Everyone is important to the business and valued no matter what role we fulfil.

There’s a great team work ethos and we all support each other through any challenges that present themselves as well as celebrate our successes - and we have had some great successes in growing and developing the business in the short time I have been here.

I have been blessed with some fantastic customers who work collaboratively with us to ensure that the solutions we provide and develop continue to be the right ones for their business. At Loomis we never take our customers for granted; we liaise, we review, we enhance - and we retain. That’s a part of the job I love, it’s never just a question of getting customers signed up and that’s it! We also have a growing pipeline of opportunities with customers who are hearing about the good things we are doing and want to be part of the Loomis journey.

Q: And to relax out of work?

I have an interest in the paranormal which has taken me to some amazing locations in the middle of the night in search of anything spooky. Although I think the scariest thing I have found so far is in my mirror!

I’m also enjoying tracing my family tree which is something that I started during lockdown.
