MEET THE TEAM: Ann Giordano

Introducing Ann Giordano, Head of Loomis UK HR Operations

Our People Apr 18, 2024

Ann completed her education at Nottingham Trent University and, for the last 20 years, has been a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She has worked in HR for more than 32 years in several different environments which have included the Public, Charity and Private Sectors.

Q: Ann, when did you join Loomis?

I joined Loomis in 2015 as Business Partner and worked predominantly in the Southern branches, supporting managers within Operations, although my remit eventually covered all Operational UK Branches.

Q: What attracted you to Loomis?

I was keen to work in a commercial environment rather than the political and bureaucratic environment that I was more familiar with. I found Loomis to be a more open, dynamic and progressive business, able to react quickly to a changing business landscape. It was a refreshing change, and I was very quickly impressed by the work ethic of the operational teams and the determination to meet the performance standards expected by customers. I was impressed (and still am) by the knowledge that we retain within the business in the very specialised field in which we operate.

Q: What is it like working at Loomis? What do you enjoy most about your role?

I have been fortunate to have had a long and varied career in HR and I’m lucky to work in a field that interests and still motivates me. I have enjoyed working for Loomis more than any other Company and I truly believe that we offer excellent work opportunities and benefits for all of our people.

For me, no two days are ever the same and the actions of others can be both inspirational and, at times, challenging!

The best part of my role is getting to meet and talk to operational colleagues across our branch network, sharing ideas and experience.

I am a naturally curious HR practitioner and like to understand how or why things work. I’m often found digging around in data and I strongly believe that HR evidence-based and data-driven decisions will improve ways of working and business performance. That said, people will always be our most valuable resource and it’s vital to listen and learn from each other.

Q: And to relax out of work?

I love live music and try to see as much as I can. So far this year I have tickets to see Train, Darius Rucker (from Hootie and the Blowfish) and Kasey Musgraves – an eclectic mix! The one person I’d love to see but, to date, have never been able to, is Billy Joel. Maybe one day…

Q: One final thought or quote?

I don’t have a single quote, but if I was to offer a thought for colleagues to consider, it would be to always act with honesty and integrity and be willing to be held to account.

For those who lead others, they will become better leaders by learning to listen, to delegate and by trusting their teams to deliver. We should all remember that wherever and however we undertake our daily work tasks, we all have an important part to play in the success of Loomis.
